BlueStakes App
Shortly after starting my employment at 4Life, I was tasked with designing a new app for the use of the company affiliates in which they could purchase product, manage their business, and keep up-to-date with company news.
Responsibilities:
Sketches, wireframing, prototyping, low-fidelity design, high-fidelity design
4Life is a global company, and as such operates in a multitude of countries where having a mobile phone is more likely than having a computer.
Additionally, 4Life is a kind of social network. It’s hard to show a friend a product you or how your 4Life business is performing if you can only do so on a computer.
There are over 7 billion mobile phone users in the world, which means that most people have access to a mobile device, and as such a mobile app is a great way to reach as many users as possible.
The initial app design provided shopping, basic account management, and reporting functionalities, with much more added on throughout the years.
Users of the 4Life app want to accomplish two primary functions:
To learn how other companies in the same market are implementing similar technologies, we keep an eye on competitors such as Doterra, Young Living, and Nature’s Sunshine. Each of these companies has distinguished itself in the MLM and/or health supplement market and serves as an ensign of success in their respective sphere.
As such, when we find something that we feel they’re doing well, we want to mimic it and, if possible, improve upon it for our own affiliates.
4Life app users cover a broad spectrum in terms of gender, age, location, and income status.
To design for the lowest common denominator, 4Life uses a primary persona of a mid-30s Hispanic woman from a third-world country who is trying to bring in additional income by selling product asa. 4Life affiliate. With this persona in mind, we designed to keep things as simple as possible, but then also provided a way for super-users to drill down into their organization.
This app is continually being updated and modified based on current design trends, implementation of new programs, and updated corporate styles.
The vast majority of users of this app are affiliates selling 4Life products. The first thing they see when opening the app is their business dashboard with statistics, balanced, and other business-related information that they may want to know quickly and track often.
